AI assistants (MCP)
Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another AI assistant to your MyDesigns account.
Connecting your assistant
MyDesigns runs an MCP server. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the standard way AI assistants connect to other apps. Once connected, your assistant can work in your MyDesigns account when you ask it to, and its tool list shows everything it can do there.
Every assistant needs the same address. ChatGPT calls the connection a plugin, Claude a connector, and coding tools an MCP server.
https://mcp.mydesigns.io/mcpWhen the assistant first needs your account, it opens a MyDesigns sign-in page. Sign in and approve the access, and the assistant carries on. Tools that cannot open a sign-in page use a personal access token instead, covered at the end of this page.
Claude
These steps work in Claude on the web and in the Claude desktop app.
- Open Customize, then Connectors.
- Select Add, then Add custom connector.
- Name it MyDesigns, paste the address and select Continue.
- Keep the sign-in settings Claude detects and select Add, then Connect to sign in.
- In a chat, turn it on from the + button, under Connectors.
Custom connectors work on every Claude plan, but the free plan allows only one. On Team and Enterprise plans an owner adds the connector under Organization settings, then Connectors, and each person connects their own account.
ChatGPT
- On chatgpt.com, open Plugins in the sidebar.
- Select the plus button, then Add custom MCP server.
- Name it MyDesigns and paste the address under Connection.
- Choose OAuth for authentication, tick I understand and want to continue, and select Create as a plugin.
- In a chat, type @ and pick MyDesigns, then ask away.
Custom MCP servers can only be added on ChatGPT on the web, and not on every ChatGPT plan. In a Business or Enterprise workspace, an admin may need to add it or allow it first.
Coding tools
Coding assistants add MCP servers with a command or a config file. All of the ones below open the MyDesigns sign-in page on their own, so you do not need a token unless you prefer one.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http mydesigns https://mcp.mydesigns.io/mcpThen run /mcp inside Claude Code, pick mydesigns and sign in.
OpenAI Codex
codex mcp add mydesigns --url https://mcp.mydesigns.io/mcp
codex mcp login mydesignsThe Codex app, IDE extension and CLI share one setup, so adding it once works everywhere. In the IDE extension you can also open the gear menu, choose MCP servers, then Add server, pick Streamable HTTP and paste the address.
Cursor
Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json for every project, or .cursor/mcp.json for one project. Cursor asks you to sign in the first time it connects.
{
"mcpServers": {
"mydesigns": {
"url": "https://mcp.mydesigns.io/mcp"
}
}
}VS Code with GitHub Copilot
Open the Command Palette, run MCP: Add Server, choose HTTP, paste the address and name it mydesigns. A browser window opens for you to sign in the first time Copilot uses it.
Gemini CLI
gemini mcp add --transport http mydesigns https://mcp.mydesigns.io/mcpThen run /mcp auth mydesigns inside Gemini CLI to sign in.
Other assistants
Any other assistant or agent that supports MCP can connect the same way. Look for a setting to add a custom or remote MCP server, often under Connectors, Integrations, Plugins or Tools.
- Add a new MCP server and name it MyDesigns.
- Paste the address. If it asks for the transport, choose Streamable HTTP, sometimes shown as HTTP.
- If it asks how to sign in, choose OAuth. The assistant then opens the MyDesigns sign-in page the first time it connects.
- If it has no OAuth option, use a personal access token as a bearer token, as described below.
Personal access tokens
For a tool that cannot open a sign-in page, or one that runs unattended, use a personal access token. In MyDesigns, open Settings, then Personal Access Tokens, give the token a name and select Generate Token. Copy it straight away, because it is shown only once.
Give it to your tool as an Authorization header. Most tools have a headers setting for this, for example in Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http mydesigns https://mcp.mydesigns.io/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN"
