Vision AI
Write titles, descriptions and tags from your design, shaped to each marketplace's rules.
Vision AI overview
Vision AI runs on a multimodal AI model, one that reads images as well as text, with our own instructions on top. Those instructions are what turn a general image model into a listing writer: they tell it how long each field should be, what a good title looks like on Etsy versus Shopify, and what it must never claim.
It writes from two things: the image you give it and the settings on the form. If you want copy built around what is already selling, start with Scout AI, which researches demand and then hands its designs to Vision AI.
Choosing a model
Every Vision AI form has a Model setting. The models cost the same, so the choice is about the shape of the copy you get back, not the price.
- MD 3.5 (Recommended)
- The current model and the default everywhere. It follows a dedicated set of rules for each platform, so an Etsy listing, a Shopify product page and a MyDesigns Store product each come back in the format that platform rewards.
- MD 3
- The previous model. Copy is plain text with no formatting. Shopify and WooCommerce get a title of 40 to 60 characters and a short description of around 150 characters, written like a search snippet, plus a long list of short tags. Amazon Merch gets a description of 250 to 300 characters and two bullet points. On Etsy, titles run 12 to 15 words and name the item once, with a description of 400 to 800 characters.
- MD 2.5
- The oldest model. It writes the same way as MD 3 on every platform except Etsy, where titles are 120 to 140 characters built from comma-separated phrases.
MyDesigns Store and TikTok follow the same rules whichever model you pick. Unless you need copy that matches listings you wrote with an older model, leave it on MD 3.5.
Availability and credits
Vision AI is available on paid plans. Each listing, design or product it writes for costs 0.5 credits, whichever model or platform you choose. Before you generate, the form shows how many listings are in the batch and the total cost, and it will not start if your balance is short.
You only pay for copy you get. If a generation fails, it is retried automatically at no extra cost, and if it still fails the credits for it are not spent.
Your plan also sets how many listings one run can cover and how many Vision AI generations you can make per day.
Compare subscription plansWhere to use it
Vision AI is built into the places where you write listing copy, so you rarely need to go looking for it.
- Publishing
- On the listing details step of the publish flow, Quick Fill with Vision AI fills the fields for the platform you pick, for the current design or all of them. Advanced Vision AI opens the full form with every setting below. Digital product publishing has the same two buttons.
- Product editor
- In Edit Details, Quick fill with Vision AI rewrites the title, description and tags for the product's platform. Nothing is saved until you save the product, so you can review or undo first.
- Products page
- Select products and choose Actions, then Edit, then Vision AI to rewrite them in bulk. The selected products need to be in the same group. The run happens in the background and you can follow it in your jobs.
- Scout AI
- Turn on Write my listing copy and each finished Scout design is handed to Vision AI, so it arrives with a title, tags and description ready to publish.
- Designs page (legacy)
- The Vision AI bulk action fills design template fields from a chosen file slot. It still works, but writing copy while you publish is the recommended route.
What you can set
Quick Fill uses sensible defaults. Advanced Vision AI gives you the full form, which is worth a minute when you are about to run a large batch.
- Product type
- What the design will be printed on, such as T-Shirt, Mug or Poster, or your own type under Other. The copy is written for that product, and is filled in for you when it can be.
- Platform
- Which marketplace's rules to follow. It defaults to the platform you are publishing to, or Etsy when there is none.
- Model
- Which Vision AI model writes the copy. See Choosing a model above.
- Output
- Which fields to write: title, description and tags. For Amazon Merch, brand and two bullet points replace tags.
- Custom instructions
- Anything the defaults do not cover, in plain words. "Write text in German" or "Include emojis in the description" are typical. This is also where language and tone are set.
- Generate product features
- Adds the specification list of the products you pick, such as fabric and fit, to the end of the description, so those details come from the product rather than being guessed.
- Writing mode
- Whether the new copy overwrites what is already there, or is added before or after it.
Rules for each platform
Each marketplace rewards different copy, so MD 3.5 writes to a different brief for each. The limits below are applied to every result, and anything over them is trimmed at a word boundary before it reaches your listing.
| Platform | Title | Description | Tags |
|---|---|---|---|
| Etsy | Up to 140 characters, main keyword in the first 40, always names the product type | A short opening line Google can show as the summary, then 2 or 3 sentences | 13 tags, up to 20 characters each |
| Shopify | Up to 50 characters | Formatted with a heading, a short paragraph and three key points | 5 to 8 broad tags |
| WooCommerce | Up to 60 characters | A short description with three key points, followed by a longer one | 5 to 8 tags |
| MyDesigns Store | Up to 50 characters, the design followed by the product type | 2 or 3 sentences, up to 300 characters | 5 to 8 tags |
| Amazon Merch | Up to 60 characters, plus a brand of up to 50 | Up to 2,000 characters, plus two bullet points of up to 256 each | None |
| TikTok (beta) | 25 to 80 characters, title case | Summary, features, then who it is for | None |
What it will not write
- Trademarked terms, brands or famous names.
- Shipping times, sizing or fabric claims it cannot see in the image. Use Generate product features for those.
- Misleading effects. Glitter or foil in a printed design is described as "printed" or "faux", never as the real thing.
- Pushy or promotional phrases, all-caps words and, on Etsy, special characters in tags.
