Designs overview

Designs are the starting point of everything you sell. You can upload existing artwork or create new designs directly inside MyDesigns.

Adding designs

Uploading and creating

There are two ways to bring a design into MyDesigns. You can upload a ready-made design directly from your computer, or you can create one using our built-in tools such as Dream AI or Canvas.

When you create a design with one of our tools, simply save it to the appropriate folder in Designs. From there, return to your Designs and proceed with product creation whenever you are ready.

Importing designs

We also support importing and exporting designs, both from spreadsheets such as Excel and from other platforms, making it easy to move your designs in and out of MyDesigns.

Design imports are a raw asset transfer. We bring in the artwork itself — and any accompanying meta from your spreadsheet or source — and drop it straight into your Designs. Nothing is mapped, validated, or connected to a print partner or marketplace; the imported files simply become designs you can organize and build products from.

Design collections

Designs can be organized into private collections that help you keep your work structured. These collections exist purely for your own organization — they are not linked to products or product collections in any way.

You manage your collections entirely on your own, arranging designs however suits your workflow. Each collection can hold up to 5,000 designs.

We recommend keeping collections smaller and organizing them with date-based labels, which makes navigating and locating your designs much easier over time.

We also support collection templates, which define the number of slots a collection has along with its input fields (aka meta). Templates give each collection a consistent structure to work from.

Design slots

Every design has its own set of slots. When you run a tool against a design — such as vectorize, upscale, or background removal — it generates a new version of that design in the slot next to it, leaving the original untouched.

This lets you experiment freely with a single design, comparing variations side by side until you arrive at the exact result you want to use for a later product.

Design meta

Before creating a product, you can predefine a design's metadata — including its title, description, tags, price, quantity, and other fields. These values are stored on the design and can be carried over as defaults when you later turn it into a product.

Design actions

A range of actions can be performed against your designs, either individually or in bulk. Because these actions operate on the specific slots you select rather than the designs those slots belong to, keeping your slots well organized ensures each action targets exactly the versions you intend.

Duplicate design
Physically copies a design along with its files and input values, producing an unbound clone that is fully independent of the original.
Move design
Moves a design, together with all its slots and meta values, from one collection to another. If the target collection uses a different template structure, a migration tool opens as a safeguard.
Update data
Updates the template fields (meta) associated with the selected designs.
Delete
Deletes the selected designs along with their slot images and field values.
Change file slots
Swaps the images between slots on a design.
Delete files
Deletes only the selected slot files, leaving the rest of the design intact rather than removing the entire design.
Image mockups (legacy)
Generates mockups from a design and places them into slots, so they can later be used during the product creation steps. This is now handled within the product creation flow itself.
Video mockups (legacy)
Generates video mockups from a design and places them into slots for later use during product creation. This is now handled within the product creation flow itself.
Bulk sync publications (legacy)
Once used to sync changes from designs down to products. Today, these capabilities are being built directly into the Products page, so designs no longer need to serve as the source of truth. Once a product is created, use the Products page and its actions instead.
Canvas
Loads an image into the canvas where you can add elements such as text on top of it. If you choose a canvas image with elements as your print file, the design becomes customizable — when an order comes in, those elements (like text) can be changed. A canvas can be saved either as a raw image or in MyDesigns' customizable canvas format.
Vision AI (legacy)
Uses AI to read an image and automatically fill in its template fields with text related to the image, such as title, description, and tags.
Remove background
Removes the background from an image. The result is placed into a new slot, and the original image is kept.
Upscale image
Upscales an image to 4K and beyond. The result is placed into a new slot, and the original image is kept.
Vectorize image
Removes the contextual background using AI and vectorizes the image. The result is placed into a new slot, and the original image is kept.
Color overlay
Applies a solid color overlay to an image. The result is placed into a new slot.
Pattern overlay
Applies a repeating pattern overlay to an image. The result is placed into a new slot.
Image effect
Applies visual effects to an image. The result is placed into a new slot.
Resize image
Resizes an image to your chosen dimensions. The result is placed into a new slot.
Translate
Translates the text in a design's fields into another language.
Trademarks
Checks a design against known POD trademarks and flags any matches directly in the design's meta.
Bulk tags
Adds or removes tags across multiple designs at once.

Create products from designs

Once your designs are exactly as you want them — upscaled, quality checked, and organized — you are ready to create products. You can select multiple designs at once, up to the limits of your subscription plan, and proceed through the product creation flow.

You start by selecting one or multiple designs and clicking the "Create Product" button in the dashboard. From there you decide whether you want to create a marketplace-agnostic product — meaning no marketplace-specific validations run on creation — or go strictly with a marketplace such as Etsy. Selecting Etsy turns on validators that check all your designs and inputs on the fly before product creation is triggered. This helps when you already know where your products will be published.

Create product on the fly (recommended)
Select only the designs that will be print files, then choose mockups, meta values, and pricing on the fly later in the create product process. There is no need to predefine values in slots or input fields.
Create product from prepopulated slots and meta
When you create mockups and fill in meta upfront, you bind designs to a specific product. This makes it harder to reuse a design later, because you will have to recreate and repopulate all fields over and over again.
