1953 Red and White Delivery Van in Parade

A pristine 1953 International Harvester Metro delivery van painted in red and white Good Humor Ice Cream livery leads a Memorial Day parade down Main Street in a small New England town. American flags hang from lampposts as spectators in summer attire line the sidewalks. Children wave excitedly at the smiling driver who tips his white cap through the open window. Behind the van marches a high school band in crisp uniforms. The town's brick courthouse and gazebo provide a Norman Rockwell-esque backdrop. A local newspaper photographer captured this scene with a Speed Graphic camera from a raised platform, perfectly framing the iconic vehicle against the patriotic small-town Americana setting.
